But, what I didn't expect was The Faint to be so good and full of energy, wholly crap. The audience seemed to love it and I certainly enjoyed myself being sung to by the singer of the band and the tall gal standing next to me who knew every last word to every song. What a great time

This is the time of the year everyone returns to blogging in force, right? 2008 is shaping up to be a great year. Lots of new things set in motion with friends of mine. The New Waveforms have signed with Black Crown Entertainment and I've heard some of the upcoming music and it is going to take them to the next level. Sybel is involved with recording new material for their debut CD and it sounds fantastic. I'm excited to hear the finished product. Rhythmic Symphony is working on new material, both song-wise and an accompaning novel. Also, they will be opening with Echoing Green for And One in Denver in February. Anyway, good news all around. Here's to the New Year...

Ok, now on to much better news. I've been listening to the open source remixes of the newest Nine Inch Nails album and loving it. You too can download the tracks here: Nine Inch Nails Open Source Remixes . I don't have a favorite yet, most of these are amazing.

The last week was a pretty crazy one, the Skinny Puppy show here in Denver, which was amazing, even if half of the ticket charge went to the ticketing companies. The following night was with Josh of Revolting Cocks/Ministry's solo project Simple Shelter, which was very good as well, he and his girlfriend were both very nice and it was great to see that people such as them exsist and are out there touring. Since I had posted about this earlier I thought I'd post Trent's interview on this: Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails/Herald Sun Q: It must be an odd time then to have a new album, Year Zero, out? A: It's a very odd time to be a musician on a major label, because there's so much resentment towards the record industry that it's hard to position yourself in a place with the fans where you don't look like a greedy asshole. But at the same time, when our record came out I was disappointed at the number of people that actually bought it. If this had been 10 year...

I'd like to mention some of the things that I have discovered and been really impressed with, one being the Hungary/internet-based magazine Dose . The photography is stunning, the articles and interviews are well done and they cover a different city with each issue. I've emailed back and forth with Damage, the man behind the mission, and he says that they are looking to print the magazine. So, if you have an interest in advertising with the magazine this is a good time to get involved with them. But, truly I can't recommend this magazine enough. What are you doing still reading this? Ok, not much has floated my boat music-wise recently, but I was happy to see the following and will buy once it's out: Out in the USA since September 18th 2006, and now finally also to be released via WEA on a larger scale on April 24th 2007 is "Sanctuary", a DVD about Dead Can Dance's frontwoman Lisa Gerrard. Since Lisa Gerrard has always shied away from the public eye little was known about her apart from unconfirmed rumours. For the first time, this film presents an intimate and creative portrait of the singer. Included on the disc are interviews with Lisa Gerrard, colleagues and family describing her life and career from humble origins, work with Dead Can Dance to working with some of the most powerful figures in Hollywood such as Ridley Scott, Russell Crowe and Michael Mann, to the reformation of Dead Can Dance for a 2005 world tour and lots more. The DVD has a running time of 91 minutes and was produced by the studio Storm Creation Ltd.
