While I thought their last album was crap, I'm always hopeful that dM will return to its once former glory. I know that's a bit of a pipe dream. Oh well, one can hope... EMI has confirmed us that Depeche Mode is to hold a press conference on June 16th in Dusseldorf, Germany. According to the EMI spokeswoman the band will announce a few selected dates of their Fall tour together with details of their upcoming album which is tentatively planned for release on October 17th in Europe. The band has in the meantime revealed more details on the forthcoming album in an interview with Q Magazine. The first working titles announced include "Pain", "Suffer Well", "Everything", "Free", "Sinner In Me", "Martyr For Love" and "Macro". Dave Gahan has been quoted saying that the album sounds somewhere between Violator and SOFAD. But knowing that in the past he compared "Exciter" to "Black Celebration" th...

Collide has always been definitely an impressive band to me album-wise, so this seems like it should be a good thing if they can pull it off likewise live... After 5 albums and 11 years together, Collide will finally play a live show in Los Angeles. The six-piece live band will make their Hollywood debut at the historic El Rey Theatre on Thursday, April 14th. Along with Statik and kaRIN, Collide's expanded live show line-up includes Scott Landes on guitar, Rogerio Silva on guitar, Chaz Pease on drums, and Kai Kurosawa on bass and warr guitar. In 1995, Collide self-released their first cassette demo, "The Crimson Trial". Ten years later they have 5 additional full-length albums and their own record label, Noiseplus Music. Their latest release, "Vortex", is a double CD that features remixes of songs from previous albums as well as three covers.

Ok, so more death in the music world. Sad that only people dying seems to be worth mentioning to me these days. Is this dark music news, not really, but it's music news that is dark, does that count? Anyway, without knowing the full facts, it seems like a terrible waste, especially since he's got two young girls... Crowded House drummer found dead 28.03.05 9.00am Crowded House drummer Paul Hester has been found dead in a park in Melbourne. Hester, 46, the father of two young girls, failed to return home from walking his two dogs on Saturday night, Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper said today. It said police found his body yesterday in Elsternwick Park near his home. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances, and friends said they were not aware of Hester having been depressed. Hester quit Crowded House in 1994 but had reinvented himself as a drummer for hire, cafe owner and charismatic frontman of Music Max Sessions on Foxtel. He lived in Elwood -- a fashion...

Once again maybe not dark music related, but Roxy Music's Avalon is one of my favorite albums of all time and I used to be quoted in saying, "If you play this album on a date and you don't get laid there may be something wrong with you." Legendary rockers ROXY MUSIC have reformed to record their first album since 1983. Frontman BRYAN FERRY has joined PHIL MANZANERA, ANDY MACKAY, PAUL THOMPSON and BRIAN ENO for the reunion. The project marks the first time Eno has worked with Roxy Music since 1973's FOR YOUR PLEASURE disc and will be the first album Roxy Music have recorded since AVALON twenty-two years ago (83). The LOVE IS THE DRUG band, who briefly reformed for a live performance in 2001 without Eno, have also announced a gig at Britain's ISLE OF WIGHT FESTIVAL on 11 June (05).

Wow, this is the best live band/singer picture I've seen in quite some time. It's Wendy Yanko of Flesh Field live in Portland. I honestly don't know much about the band, but I liked what I heard and saw from their site. If they ever come to Denver I'd love to see them. Make sure you check out the audio clips as well at flesh-field.com ...
